JOHN: And she thought God was going to tell her how to fix her. And He didn’t. He said, Serve her.

DONNA: Oh. What a difference.

JOHN: Love her. She didn’t even know how. So she had to listen. She had to start listening and picking up clues and found out she had cats and was going on vacation. Serve her. She offered to watch her cats.

DONNA: Mm

JOHN: She did. And her boss was so surprised. And so they had lunch after. And they got to know each other. Listened to her story. And then when her boss got a promotion she threw a party for her. Anyway, long story short. Her boss gets laid off, and goes to Karen, and was hurting, and said – Why have you been so nice to me?

DONNA: Oh my goodness.

JOHN: And Karen had to tell her. I was not treating you like Jesus would. And Jesus started to show me how much He cares about you. Well, that drew her, and she starts coming to church with Karen, learning about the grace of God. She comes to faith and ends up that, she and Karen ended up in the same small group as good friends, growing together in Christ.

DONNA: That is beautiful. I know we’ve only got a minute or so left. So, John, I want you to take this time and speak to those and pray for those that may be saying right now, I’m imperfect. I’m imperfect. What would you say to them? And please pray for people before we leave.

JOHN: I would say, No perfect people allowed. [Laughs]

DONNA: [Laughs]

JOHN: That, that really, you know, When we feel like we have to be perfect, we’re just playing a game. But God wants you to be honest. You know, He already knows everything and loves you more than you can possibly imagine. And all you have to do is let Him in. Jesus died to pay for every wrong we’ve ever done, past, present, and future, so we could be restored to the One who can restore us. So, yeah. Can I pray for that?

DONNA: Absolutely. Please.

JOHN: God, thank You so much that You demonstrated Your love through Jesus coming and entering into our brokenness, entering into our poverty, not aligning with those who were religious and thought they were better than everybody else, but actually saying to them, I don’t want Your sacrifices. I want Your mercy. And going to those who are hurting, and broken, and addicted, and wounded and showing us a better way, showing us the way of hope, the way of life in You. And I pray for anyone today whos been feeling that condemnation that they would know that there’s no condemnation for us in Christ Jesus. And they would just turn their heart to You and receive that, Lord, receive Your forgiveness and Your leadership. And, Lord, I pray that all of us would follow You and let You restore us into this beautiful masterpiece You created us to be. We pray in Jesus name. Amen. [Music]

DONNA: Wow. What a powerful lesson, John. Thank you, and thank you all for watching today. Please join us again next time for Something More.
